With Millennials and Generation Z now making up nearly half of the workforce, expectations of leadership are changing. These younger professionals value leaders who act as coaches — creating opportunities for growth, offering constructive challenge, and encouraging contribution — rather than those who rely on directive management alone. For organisations, this makes coaching a critical capability for managers who want to build engagement and sustain high performance.
Coaching for Performance and Engagement is a one-day, in-person course designed for managers and leaders who want to embrace the role of a coach. The course introduces essential coaching skills that strengthen performance and cultivate a growth-oriented team culture, showing how coaching can increase motivation and productivity across multigenerational teams.
During the course, you will develop core techniques in active listening, questioning, and encouraging open, supportive dialogue. You will examine how these approaches can be applied in leadership conversations to support development, maintain accountability, and improve day-to-day team effectiveness.
Delivered by Korn Ferry Academy faculty with extensive coaching experience, the course combines research-based insight with practical application. By the end, you will be ready to apply a coaching approach that sharpens how you communicate, set expectations, and support employees to drive sustained engagement and performance.

“The one-to-one coaching simulation was especially helpful. It allowed me to experience both roles – Coach and Coachee – and practise effective listening to build curiosity and ask better questions.”
“The course deepened my understanding of the coaching process and provided ample opportunity to practise. I now have a clearer sense of how and where to apply this powerful tool in my work.”
“The course was filled with interesting and relevant examples as well as hands-on practice that made the concepts of coaching come to life.”
This course is designed for leaders and managers who want to move from directing to coaching, building trust, motivation, and ownership within their teams. It is particularly relevant for those leading Millennials and Gen Z employees, who value growth, collaboration, and empowerment over traditional command-and-control leadership.
You will learn how to apply coaching as a leadership style that strengthens both engagement and accountability. The course helps you build the confidence to coach rather than direct, and to recognise when coaching is the right approach, and how it differs from mentoring, managing, or counselling. Through practice and reflection, you will refine core skills such as active listening, asking powerful and creative questions, and being fully present in conversations. You will also learn how to balance empathy with challenge, maintaining trust while holding your team to high standards. By the end of the course, you will be able to guide individuals to take ownership of their own growth and performance.
There are no prerequisites. This course is ideal for people leaders at all levels, from first-time managers to senior leaders, who want to strengthen how they develop others.
You will learn through practice-heavy clinics, immersive case simulations, in-class games, and structured debriefs. Every element emphasises doing, observing, and refining, supported by facilitator feedback and peer learning.
You will participate in multiple rounds of real-play coaching, receive feedback from peers and facilitators, and refine your approach using observation checklists and reflection. You will also create a coaching cadence and personal plan that you can immediately use with your team to build engagement and accountability.
This course is a hands-on coaching studio rather than a lecture. You will leave with the mindset, confidence, and tools to hold meaningful coaching conversations that elevate performance and engagement, especially in a multigenerational workforce seeking connection, growth, and purpose.
