Overview

Leading a team today often means managing four or even five generations at once, each with its own expectations of feedback, growth, and work-life balance. Younger team members often crave autonomy and feedback in real time, while more experienced colleagues may value structure and long-term recognition. When these expectations collide, even the most well-intentioned managers can find themselves struggling to balance fairness, motivation, and results.

Performance Management in a Multigenerational Workforce is a one-day, in-person course designed to help managers turn those differences into an advantage. You’ll learn to recognise the distinct motivations of each generation, moving beyond assumptions to a more evidence-based understanding of what people value and how they define success.

Through real-world scenarios, case studies, hands-on activities, participants learn how to set shared performance standards that unite diverse teams and balance accountability with empathy. You will learn how to bridge generational divides while supporting hybrid work models.

By the end, you’ll leave with practical tools to lead conversations that are fair, motivating, and inclusive, and develop the ability to turn generational diversity into a genuine strength for your team.

This course will equip you to:

  • Build a culture of performance and accountability by clarifying expectations, establishing shared standards, and using tools such as a team charter to promote ownership.
  • Build team accountability by addressing underperformance directly and constructively, applying practical approaches that balance empathy with clear consequences.
  • Conduct fair and consistent evaluations across hybrid, remote, and in-person settings, ensuring that feedback focuses on output and impact rather than proximity or bias.
