“I found the course highly informative and engaging. The content was well structured and relatable, with case studies that resonated strongly. The pacing was excellent, balancing presentations, discussions, and interaction seamlessly.”
“The course helped clarify the distinction between strategic problem solving, general problem solving, and paradox – giving me a clearer framework for approaching complex issues.”
This course is designed for professionals at all levels, including managers and leaders, who want to sharpen their strategic thinking, strengthen analytical capabilities, and improve their decision-making frameworks. It is ideal for those who regularly tackle complex challenges and want to apply structured, evidence-based approaches to make sound, high-impact decisions.
You will learn how to think and act strategically when solving problems and making decisions under pressure. The course introduces tools to identify and frame problems accurately, uncover root causes, and evaluate multiple options using structured decision-making models. You will also explore how to balance analytical logic with creative insight, understand different decision-making styles, and manage the leadership paradoxes that often arise in complex business environments.
Early in the course, the facilitator will invite you to identify a strategic problem from your own workplace. This will form the foundation for applying each concept across the two days. You will first practise using curated case studies and exercises, then apply the same frameworks to your real organisational challenge. Dedicated time is provided for you to raise specific issues and receive advice and feedback from the facilitator and fellow participants.
There are no prerequisites. This course is suitable for professionals at all levels who are responsible for diagnosing issues, analysing options, and making or influencing strategic decisions.
Over two days, you will move from concept to practice through a series of interactive activities. You will begin with a creative, outside-in approach using a well-known movie case to explore the principles of strategic problem solving before applying them to real business contexts. You will also complete a Decision-Making Styles Assessment to identify your preferred approach and evaluate its effectiveness across different situations. Guided by an experienced facilitator, you will work through real-life case studies, group exercises, and scenario planning to apply frameworks that lead to structured, actionable solutions.
Unlike traditional analytical courses, this course develops both the art and science of decision-making. It blends creativity, structure, and reflection to help you test frameworks in diverse scenarios before applying them to your own challenges. The use of a movie-based case brings theory to life, while the Decision-Making Styles Assessment provides a personal lens to understand how you lead and decide. Participants often describe the course as insightful and practical, highlighting how it transforms the way they frame problems, engage stakeholders, and deliver strategic outcomes.
